As we very quickly approach the 4th quarter of 2013 and one of the biggest periods of home business profits and growth, ask yourself….

Will my business and my finances look any different in November or even January if I don’t make some major changes to how I operate my business right now?

imgresThe purpose of this post is to give you some tips and ideas that you can use right now to really ramp things up in your business as we move together into quarter 4 of 2013.

This way you can finish 2013 strong and feel pride about operating a profitable business rather than feeling blame and regret about not playing full out come december.

The Fall is one of the most profitable times of the year for home business owners…. You trust me when I tell you that successful business owners are taking actions right now that will result in “fall momentum” which will lead to an explosive January…. January is THE most profitable time of the year for marketers in our profession. But you can’t wait until January or December or you will miss out on this critical period for business growth.

The time to act is NOW!

If you are truly committed and serious about building a profitable business right now, its time to put on your big boy pants (or big girl pants), make a decision that this is it, and take immediate actionsto back it up.

The following list will give you some ideas about what actions you can take right now to ensure substantial growth in your business so you can rock out the rest of the year and set yourself up for a profitable, and even life altering 2014!

Are you ready?

#1 – Re-Commit to personal development, skill development and fundamentals

Whenever I feel its time to “pick up the pace” in my business I re-commit to the process. I get back to the basics and fundamental that made me successful over the past 5 years. A few of those things are – A commitment to consistent and never ending improvement through personal development and skill development; consistent focus on income producing activities like creating marketing content and communicating with prospects; And tracking activity. (The simple act of tracking your activities on a daily and weekly basis will have a profound affect on your productivity and your results)

Quick Tip – If you are looking for inspiration you can often find it by plugging into new resources like a new personal development audio series or book. A few I recommend are, “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson, “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins and “The Charge” by Brendon Burchard. You can also find abbreviated audio’s of all of these books on sites on a smart phone app called Audible.

For example, “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins is probably the biggest book i’ve ever read. Instead of re-reading it I decided to download a 90 minute audio version of the book on the “Audible” smart phone app so I can get all the main points of the book without spending hours upon hours reading the entire thing again. Make sense? Personal development is non-negotiable if you want to take your results to the next level now!

InevitableGoal#2 – Create clear short-term goals and a real plan to accomplish it

“All goal setting must be followed by the immediate development of a plan and with massive and consistent action towards its fulfillment”

This quote came from the abbreviated audible version of the book “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins. If you are making a few hundred dollars a month in your business right now you can turn that into a few thousand per month fairly quickly, but you must be very clear on EXACTLY what the short term goal is. So if the goal is to, “make $3,000 per month from my business by the end of November 2013.” Then immediately follow that up with a plan for making it happen!

#3 – “Switch it up a bit” – Expose yourself to new ideas and information about how to create profits in your business

Sometimes, even if you get great information from your company, team ,or sponsor, it can be very valuable to switch it up a little bit and expose yourself to new ideas about how other people are making it happen with their businesses. You may discover that you notice something about how they operate their business, which can cause a small shift in something that you were already doing that will make a tremendous difference in your results.

If you feel “stuck” or if you are feeling like you’ve plateaued, doing this simple thing can be a total game changer. It can re-engage you and re excite you about working on your home business enterprise. I know from experience dude!

muhammad-ali-training-Google-Search#4 – Identify a few small changes you can make to yourdaily discipline’s and routine.

Actions followed by small incremental adjustments are what compound over time and lead to massive breakthroughs and exponential results. If you have procrastination issues and you lack discipline in your business, try doing little things on a consistent basis. Something as small as making your bed every day or not hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock, or making one new marketing video per week can affect other disciplines in your business and lead to exponential results.

The extremely wise business and thought leader, Jim Rohn said that “Every discipline effects every other discipline”

Which is exactly why doing something small – like making your bed every day as soon as you get up in the morning – can have an extremely positive impact on your business building activities.

#5 – Follow and model new people who are making it happen

Find someone who has the results you want. Someone who you really resonate with, who’s building their business the way you want to rather than the way your company or up-line is telling you to. Stalk them (virtually). Model them. Find ways to be more “like them.”  Get into their world a little bit more. Reach out to them. See what you can do to get on their radar.

#6 – Examine your thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back

Write out 5 – 10 limiting beliefs that are holding you back. If you can’t think of any than congratulations!! You have no limiting beliefs and you can easily attract anything you want at all times and your a borderline super-human…

But for those of us regular humans we have to understand that we do have limiting beliefs and its important to recognize what they are.

Maybe its the belief that, “I’m not a technical person,” or “sales people are scum bags,” or “I don’t want to become successful because of what my loved ones might think and say about me.”

These kinds of beliefs are stories that we picked up somewhere along the way, (usually in our childhood) and they STOP us from taking actions that lead to the results that we  SAY we want.

Once you’ve made this list identify the top 2 or 3 that are the most present and the most limiting and circle them…. Then ask yourself the following questions.

Is this belief still serving me as an adult?
Who did I learn this belief from and do they have the results that I currently want?
What has holding onto this belief cost me in my life?
Can I let it go now?

Then, on the flip side – write out a list of 5-10 beliefs that empower you and lead you towards positive changes…

Things like, “I am courageous and bold,” “I am generous and caring,” “I am a valuable resource to people in my life.”

Again circle the top 2 or 3 and focus on them. This way whenever limiting thoughts and beliefs creep into your mind you can counter them by verbally stating, reading, or re-writing these beliefs to remind yourself of them.

553039_3546115293498_1291010963_33599216_439891347_n#7 - Prove your commitment by backing it up with some kind of financial investment into your education and entrepreneurial development

Early on in my business I invested in my education by purchasing training products, books, marketing systems, coaching programs and live events.

Many times when spending money on these things were very uncomfortable and required some “entrepreneurial creativity.” I.E. Selling personal belongings, borrowing money on credit cards and borrowing from other people who had the financial resources that I lacked.

It comes down to this…

Successful people find a way. Unsuccessful people make excuses.

I firmly believe that by investing in my business when I didn’t exactly “have the extra money” to do so – proved my commitment and helped me attract the financial results I was looking for.

Soooooo many home business owners who have amazing potential are struggling, yet at the same time many are totally unwilling to invest in their education as a marketer and entrepreneur. Not investing in your education is often the costliest decision you can make when you take on any new venture or attempt to acquire any new skills.

The way I see it you have 2 options.

Option #1 - Invest early. Invest often. Invest when its uncomfortable. Don’t buy into your BS excuses about not having the money otherwise you probably never will.

Option #2 - Don’t invest in your education and keep jumping from system to system, and opportunity to opportunity until you find that “magic bullet” that makes you rich overnight.

If you’ve made it this far into this post you already know which option is the way to go right?

I’m sure there were people who started reading this post that immediately clicked off of it as soon as they realized that everything in my list requires a real commitment and real work.  They are already off on some other website thats promising them “easy money” and “push button wealth.”

But that’s not you is it?

You are ready to start taking new actions towards a prosperous tomorrow and thats why, I’m offering you a series of bonuses guaranteed to help you increase profits in your business and finish 2013 strong including private one on one coaching with me so we can work together to make it happen for you.

Dealing with stress can be much more problematic than it has to be, all you need to do is to make sure you have the information you need to properly deal with your stress issues. This article will provide you with the information that you need to properly handle your stress.
A good tip that can help you reduce stress is to stop multitasking and just focus on doing one thing at a time. Multitasking might save you time but you’ll end up with a big headache. Avoid all the stress by just focusing on finishing one task at once.
When dealing with stress, any type of hobby can be a great relief. An active hobby like video games, can help take your mind off your and give you renewed perspective, when you come back to your issues. A more passive hobby like gardening can help you reflect on, analyze and then, resolve some of your problems.
A good tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to simply look into getting an answering machine for your phone. By having an answering machine, you won’t have to worry about answering calls right away. You’ll always know who called and what they want.
Your diet can attribute to the level of stress that you are dealing with. If you are not getting enough nutrients from your food and you skip meals or have too much time in between them, your blood sugar will drop and this will make you irritable. You won’t be able to handle stressful situations that confront you each day, either.

A great tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to take a little time out and appreciate your surroundings. Look out the window and try to notice things you’ve never noticed before. Spacing out like this can help you keep your stress levels down.
Exercise. Starting a regular exercise regimen 3 to 4 times a week will help you overcome stress in a way that you’ll be surprised to experience. Exercising stimulates hormones and chemicals in the body so that you handle stress differently. There are dozens of different fitness programs to try; whichever one you choose will help.
Petting a dog or a cat is an effective way to relieve stress. The motion of petting a furry animal gives you a sense of tranquility. Feeling the warmth of the animal is soothing, and when you can see your pet calming down and enjoying your touch as well, it can enhance the peacefulness of the moment.
If you life a high-stress lifestyle, you need to be sure to take some time out to recover from the damage that the stress is causing your body. This can be done by taking the time to get a professional massage. It will make you feel physically and emotionally better.
As was stated in the beginning of this article, stress can be very miserable to overcome if you do not have the information for you to tactfully handle your stress issues. Now that you have read this article, the information that you have learned from it will help you to manage your stress.

Last days of the egregious Evan Dobelle, still hanging in there as president of Westfield State University… to the embarrassment of everyone but… Evan! A cautionary tale.

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant.
Author’s program note. The summer of ’13 was blown out of town yesterday, winds gusting, the rains torrential, a whole forest of venerable oaks and maples cast down into the ancient soil of New England, a scene from Currier and Ives… or Norman Rockwell, the man from the Saturday Evening Post whose eye for gen-u-wine Americana was never wrong, cherishing as he did our stern verities and picturesque mores.
Yes, fall has come to New England and with it whole brigades of eager-beaver students who come to crack the occasional book… and to attend the virtually non-stop parties that make Ol’ P.U. such a satisfactory place to pass one’s uninhibited, gloriously misspent salad days. Rah-rah-rah!
These students, particularly the ones at places like Westfield State University in bucolic, entirely forgettable Western Massachusetts who attend an institution so little known that it and its glamor starved students couldn’t even be forgotten, never having reached the eminence of “Where did you say you go to school?”
Admit it, Westfield State University is a place you never heard of until recent events… that’s ok. Even though I live just a hop, skip, and a jump from its hallowed halls I’d hardly ever heard of it myself… that is until its born-again adolescent president Evan Dobellle took over; a hot wire who never met a party he didn’t insist on attending, never mind it was a couple thousand miles away.
As for cost, no problem. He could authorize up to $500,000 without board approval; $200,000 with a university funded credit card. With so much virtual cash in hand, he was the chief cheerleader; masquerading as chief executive, his objective clear: let’s parteeeeee.
Thus he placed the hicks of Westfield State in the middle of the biggest scandal they have ever had since their inception in 1838. It is a scandal that should never have take place and wouldn’t have taken place had the Board of Trustees not been asleep at the switch. For the truth is, the real scandal here is not that Evan Dobelle does the shocking, selfish, self-aggrandizing thing at every opportunity. That’s what Evan Dobelle has specialized in throughout his roller coaster career.
The scandal is that every time the board could have ditched Evan by the side of the road, their problem no more, they didn’t act… thereby ensuring bigger and more costly problems to come, until the entire campus at Westfield State was involved, its esteemed trustees at each other’s throats, politicians up to and including His Excellency Deval Patrick the governor, ordinarily so bored and distant from his duties we could easily forget we even have a governor… all these wasting time and money because Dobelle passed his day wasting time and money, for he was a past master of that razzmatazz.
The music.
Before we dig further into the matter of the beguiling, fast-talking, “Hi, it’s me, Evan, your BBF” thing, I want you to watch a clip from the 1963 film “Cleopatra”, the amazing and mind-bogglingly expensive movie featuring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Like Evan their objective was never to work; work is for other people; the people who don’t know anything about how to live right, that being interpreted as the complete unwillingness to behave responsibly, to do the good thing, the right thing, the thing that will help the maximum number of people and inconvenience the least. It goes without saying that this is not how Dobelle thinks… or anyone whose universe begins and ends with ME FIRST… as his so obviously, so flagrantly… so totally and completely does.
At this point, you should go to any search engine and find a magnificent film clip from “Cleopatra”, specifically when the great (and greatly self indulgent) queen of Egypt sails down the Nile to meet the great (and greatly self indulgent) Marc Anthony… both pledged to secure and enjoy a world entirely focused on them, their wants the only ones that counted.
Thus, as you watch this clip, think Evan Dobelle and how very lucky he was first to inherit, then to shape a pliable board of trustees so beguiled by Dobelle and whatever pop foolishness came out of his mouth that they allowed him every license, every privilege, the increasingly irresponsible Evan aided and abetted at all times by the board and its increasingly irresponsible members, their very timidity the most regrettable feature of all.
For if Dobelle was already tainted when he arrived at Westfield, the university’s board ensured he would get worse as he battened and grew fat on their very limited resources using for personal trifles and whims money clearly earmarked for educational programs and scholarships, in due course bankrupting them.
As Massachusetts Inspector General Glenn A. Cunha reported it was all done “indiscriminately with little or no consideration” for its intended purpose. In pre-revolutionary France such people were branded with the single letter “V”, for “Voleur”. Unfortunately, our advanced civilization does not allow such directness or honest labeling.
It is time to review the Board’s many opportunities for curtailing the Dobelle parasite so destructive in every feature, fatal if not eradicated.
Item: The board’s presidential search program was clearly flawed. The board, of course, now says that Dobelle was the best of a crop of not particularly stellar candidates. In such cases, it makes more sense to appoint an interim president and re-open the search. The alternative chosen by the board put in office in 2007 a man whose entire career was shadowed by frequent, vivid, detailed and entirely credible reports of mismanagement and financial chicaneries. No doubt members of the search committee hoped Dobelle had changed his M.O. How naive! Does the leopard change his spots? And so the hot potato was kicked upstairs to the full board.
Item: At this point it would have been easy to derail Dobelle’s express towards the $250,000 a year job he coveted. A few phone calls to senior administrators, at say, his previous trough the University of Hawaii, would no doubt have yielded a bumper crop of doubts and hesitations… thereby saving Westfield from all the costly mistakes and errors which have followed. The trustees gambled, however, and Westfield lost. It was to become a habit, deleterious, out of control.
Item: Given the fact that Dobelle was hired to raise funds for scholarships and for various educational programs designed to sharpen Westfield’s edge in a very competitive market, wouldn’t you think it advisable for the board to appoint oversight committees, the better to understand and guide the process, ensuring the desirable results? But this was not the sensible path they selected. Instead their policy here as elsewhere was “Let Evan do it”… and so the folly was well and truly afoot.
Boards do this, of course, because they are composed of busy people and like the self-congratulatory kudos better than work and, besides, they reckon their president can walk on water… like he said he could. Ol’ Evan is a caution alright and if there are no results, it surely couldn’t be because he didn’t know squat about fund raising, although he always talked a good game.
And throughout it all, Dobelle squandered, all on that overworked credit card some over trusting worthies on the board gave him… as the bills came in, they worried. Evan never did. “It takes money to make money”. “You’ve got to be patient.” And the granddaddy of all, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”.
It was malarkey, but the grandiloquent Evan could charm the shoes off your feet… and sell them back to you at twice their cost. What’s more, you’d be glad to cough up, to help such an enterprising lad along. Problem is, this “lad” is now 68… and because of the high visibility scandal at Westfield, following tarnished records at other institutions, therefore unemployable… and that promises a real imbroglio. His quiet exit from Westfield, you see, is his last major asset, a cushion for his old age.
Evan predictably says he won’t leave; intends to stay forever. He would. He gets money from impoverished and hurting Westfield by the day. At this point a majority of the board wants him gone… but, incredibly, he still has his adherents, people still dazzled by Dobelle and his visions; (think Cleopatra’s royal barge and its flashy opulence, all paid by credit.) What a show!
Bit by bit this slow-moving, lethargic, irresponsible, timid board will get its act together and push the flagrant Dobelle to leave. He’s a street fighter, however; he’ll threaten a lawsuit citing irrevocable damage to his “reputation”, as he did at the University of Hawaii, a very nasty business from which he emerged with millions. The board better get themselves a real good Boston attorney prepared for sturm und drang.
Evan will in due course go… his saddlebags filled with whatever he can carry, including all the plastic cutlery in the cafeteria. He’ll no doubt have the best reasons in the world for taking it. Some poor sap will believe him. Thus the phoenix that is Evan Dobelle may well rise again. After all, as P.T. Barnum once memorably said, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”
Author’s note.

the scandals in his administration at Westfield State University, Westfield,
Massachusetts. For the first part, go to jeffreylantarticles.com and search

Worldprofit Bootcamp Update: 25 Ways to generate leads, traffic and sales – no matter what you are selling

The boy next door… the best of the Great Republic. You sleep easy through the night because of him… and millions like him. A Tribute!
Author’s program note. When was the last time you considered the state of our Great Republic and did anything — anything at all — to sustain and improve it?
If you cannot immediately say and cannot recall what you did, if you have nothing but rancorous thoughts and feelings about our continuing great experiment in the governance and well being of mankind, then stop and focus your full, undivided attention on this article and its subject: Howard Hector Martell, Jr. For this day, like every other day over the past 20 years, Howard Martell has served us… you, me, the Great Republic, all of us able to live life as we wish because of him and his colleagues in every great service of our great nation.
To set the stage for this story, to provide the essential sound, I have selected music from one of the greatest public affairs programs ever — “Victory at Sea.” It is a documentary television series about naval warfare during World War II that was originally broadcast by NBC in 1952-1953. The stirring music was composed by Richard Rodgers and Robert Russell Bennett. Rodgers, well known for a string of iconic Broadway musicals, contributed 13 “themes”; short piano compositions a minute or two in length. Bennett did the scoring, transforming Rodger’s themes into a variety of moods, all designed to touch your heart and fire your imagination. The result was pure magic.
Find out for yourself. Go now to any search engine. Listen to a few of the “themes” to get you started. I like “Hard Work and Horseplay”, “Theme of the Fast Carriers” and, of course, “The Song of the High Seas.” However, to honor Howard Martell, listen to “Guadalcanal March.” It is the essence of what a grand march should be… the kind of march Howard has so well earned… I’m playing it now as I write.
New London.
New London, Connecticut is a seaport city and a port of entry on the northeast coast of the United States. It is located at the mouth of the Thames River which locals demand you pronounce to rhyme with “James”, unlike the great river of London, England which rhymes with ‘hems”. The folks in New London insist upon their rendering; after all, they were part of the victorious Revolution that tossed the Brits out — and their eccentric pronunciations. As you hear this said, you begin to grasp the fact that New London is not merely a place of picturesque aspects; just what meets the eye. Rather, it is a place where young boys glimpse the great sea at hand, so beckoning, and dream dreams of faraway places and what life can be.
Howie Martell was such a boy.
He was born June 27,1973, attended local schools, graduating from Griswold High School. People remember him, if they remember him at all, as shy, uncertain; a boy who would smile at you… but only after you had smiled at him. Teachers with many students to instruct would remember him indistinctly and call him “average.” But such an appraisal would have been incomplete, inaccurate, failing to capture his essence, for this boy was a dreamer of great dreams… and New London, for centuries the home port of audacious mariners, offered him the means to live them, mere dreams no longer.
On August 10, 1992, just 19, he left the comfort of family, friends, the only place he had ever known, placing his future in the hands of strangers who would, in due course and short order, become comrades, a word civilians may know but so seldom understand. And so Howard Martell entered the service of the Great Republic, discovering a destination more important than any of the 48 countries he came to visit. He found himself… and became a man.
From this point, his resume tells the story… it is all USN, the resume of a man who studied hard, knew his business — the Great Republic’s business — and was esteemed by superiors who always found him ready to assist, eager to learn, and above all trustworthy and responsible.
In the process a man was shaped who was the complete Navy professional, respected by all, able to be, as events required, a man who could lead, a man who would be loyal, a man you wanted on your team, because he (and this touches the heart of this man) always stood for the success of his team, never just his own. As people came to know him, they saw this… and admired the man who put collective success above mere personal gain. Thus the Navy took Howard Martell, once a shy boy no one could quite remember, to its heart. He received one deserved honor after another… Navy Good Conduct Medal… six times… Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal… four times… Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal… Iraq Campaign Medal… two times. And most telling of all a plaque from his fellow First Class Petty Officers who thereby saluted one of their own. He was indeed the complete Navy man… a man who twenty years before had made the right decision.
The need for service in the age of selfishness.
It is a truism that older citizens will engage in endless rodomontades which detail the innumerable outrages perpetrated by the young against society. How they are ill-educated, lazy, unkempt, unclean of body and language. How they cannot be depended upon… how they flout all established behavior, video game obsessed wastrels who cannot be trusted and will never amount to a hill of beans. Thus goes the jeremiad; you can catch a whiff of it whenever two adults of fifty or so gather. From the very start of the first civilization each man steps into this argument in his maturity, as easily as he dons casual clothes. It is one of the perqs of aging, and no senior citizen will ever give up this sacred right to pontificate. I shall not give it up either and so I give you some pungent thoughts on the matter of service, a concept that alternates between being an afterthought and the salvation of the nation. What we require is calm reflection and sensible policies on the matter. And so I choose to use my words not to grumble but to exhort… to touch a shy boy or girl reading this article and help them both select the responsible path, the path trod by Howard Martell and generations of young people before… the path of service… and the abiding need of the Great Republic for… you!
Young friend, our way of governance, our core beliefs, the very future of our noble enterprise is not only challenged, but at risk. You have a choice — mindless dissipation and decay, or personal development and redemption through the bestowal of your time, mind and heart to the pressing affairs of the Great Republic. In short, you can ignobly remain part of the problem, or become infinitely more valuable as part of the solution.
There is nothing neutral about this decision. It is of the greatest possible consequence and can only be made by you. A great idea, the greatest notion of statecraft ever propounded, the Great Republic itself awaits your verdict, hopeful, expectant, confident. Howie Martell made the right choice. Will you?
… And now it is time to end Howard’s military career with all the pomp and circumstance he has earned… and which a grateful Navy can provide.
Stand forward Petty Officer First Class Howard Hector Martell, Jr.. For your service, your nation, your friends, family and comrades mean to honor you before the world in due recognition for what you have so abundantly given… above all the gift of loyalty and fidelity to a great institution so needed by this great nation.
And so through each of the hallowed retirement traditions all Naval personnel know so well… until this event, at once festive and solemn, reaches the Shadow Box. This is a symbol of a sailor’s many career accomplishments and recognitions. Shadow boxes contain a U.S. flag folded into a triangle, ribbons and medals, insignia and revered devices. They act as a reminder of ranks earned by the retiree and the awards received. It is a mark of the highest honor and cherished accordingly. Yours, Howard, comes complete with the unqualified gratitude of the nation you have served so well… none better… and the sincere thanks of us all. May God grant you sunshine and a fair wind to your many ports of call still to come.
Envoi.
End this article by returning to any search engine and playing the “Victory at Sea” theme. It remains glorious.

Pension Tips For The Self-Employed

“Hello, I’m from the government. I’m here to help you.” Ordinarily, these words
have a chilling effect on the self-employed, knowing as we do just how ironic
they can be. However, every once in a while they are true and advantageous.
This is the case with the tax-deferred pension options the U.S. government
makes available to the self-employed, people like you and me.
1) Do YOU have a pension plan? It’s crazy not to!
The sad fact is, a MAJORITY of the self- employed don’t have a pension plan.
Survey after survey documents the fact that millions of people — each of whom
wants to get old (it beats the alternative) — are NOT using their business and
the pension guidelines to arrange for a comfortable retirement. This is madness.
Don’t wait another minute to do the necessary. Call your accountant today and
listen carefully as he presents your pension options. Make sure you take notes
and question him liberally until you really understand what you can do.
2) Be clear on how much you can invest in your tax-deferred pension account.
Your accountant should give you a precise figure to invest. Keep it close at
hand. Knowing this figure, and doing what’s necessary to achieve it are both
crucial to your long-term comfort and security.
3) Know the next pension deposit deadline.
Ideally, you should deposit the full pension amount at the time you file your
federal taxes. If not, your accountant should give you the date (generally six
months after you’ve paid your taxes) that you can still pay into your pension
plan. This date is VERY important
4) Once you know the figure you can deposit into your pension plan, make
achieving it your #1 goal.
Say you are authorized to deposit $5,000 into your tax-deferred plan. Say you
have until September 1 to do so.
First, you want to deposit this amount in your pension plan just as early as
possible. Today if possible. Why? Because you want to put time to work for you.
All things being equal, it’s better to make your pension payment on April 15
rather than September 15. It gives the funds just that much longer to grow.
This makes a great difference over time.
5) Treat your pension payments like a bill, your #1 bill.
Most people pay into their pension accounts after they’ve paid all their other
bills, when there may or may not be anything left. This is a mistake.
If you are unable to pay-off your pension balance at tax filing time and must
make (say) monthly payments, then ensure you make these payments the very first
thing each month, before you’ve depleted your available cash.
6) Cash windfall? Think pension!
Made a big sale? Had a bit of luck? Got some extra cash? Think PENSION!
Remember, deposit into your tax-deferred pension account as SOON as you can,
and if a bit of extra cash comes your way pay off what you “owe” your pension
account.
7) Pay your pension fund in advance whenever possible.
Had a good year? Made some extra money? Already paid the maximum into your
pension account? Then deposit some more! The future is, by definition, murky
and uncertain. That’s why if you can deposit more, you should. Take any extra
funds you can spare and make an early deposit into your pension fund. When a
rainy day comes, you’ll be glad you did!
8) Look but don’t touch!
When that rainy day comes and you need extra cash, you may think longingly
about the funds in your tax-deferred pension account. DON’T!
You must regard your pension funds as sacrosanct, not to be touched until
commanded to do so by the federal regulations governing access and withdrawal.
If you withdraw them now, you will ordinarily pay a hefty penalty. What’s more
you lose the benefits of time… and jeopardize the comfort and security of
your golden years. Find another way to get the funds you need. Don’t dip into
this till.
Conclusion
We all hope to get old, but to get old without security and comfort is to be in
a most unenviable situation. Use your business — and the tax-deferred pension
options provided by government –, to ensure your old age is as ample as you
deserve and desire.

Why your company must have a designated nudge

Why your company must hav
Did you know your company has a open position which
needs to be filled at once? The absence of this person is
costing you money every single day. That’s why
you cannot wait another minute to fill this vital post.
To help understand what this position is all about,
let’s start at the dictionary:
Nudge (nuj) v. nudged, nudging. v. t. To touch or
push gently as with the elbow, in order to attract
attention, convey a meaning, etc. v.i. To give a
nudge. n. The act of nudging; a gentle push as with
the elbow. Norw. nugga, push.
Frankly, I think the original Norwegian (“nugga”) has it
right: push. The nudge is your company’s designated
representative to push employees and associates for
more and faster results.
Why you need a nudge
Let’s face it, you’re human. You try to set goals. You
try to reach them in the time provided. You try to do more
and better, right?
But somehow you fall behind, miss deadlines, bobble
opportunities, trip and crash when you should be sprinting
ahead. Isn’t that about the size of it?
Which is why you need a designated nudge.
In a nutshell the job of the nudge is to
* check progress on existing projects and objectives
* ask how you are getting on with what needs to be done
* remind you what needs to be done and when
it must be done
* offer incentives for achievement
* make it clear what happens when achievement is
not forthcoming
And, in general, spur, motivate, challenge, chide
– and push.
The nudge must be organized, efficient, focused,
indefatigable, with a thick skin
Only a person of the utmost efficiency, clarity and
organization can be a nudge. After all, a nudge who
falters and fails is hardly going to make a success of the
position, much less deliver the benefits you have
every right to expect.
Beyond such skills, the nudge must be a person
who, above all, has a thick skin and who doesn’t take
things personally.
Nudges are often regarded as people butting in where
they are not wanted… perfectionists in an imperfect
world… annoying, interfering, pests; in short not the
most welcome of creatures.
That’s why two things are absolutely necessary for
the successful nudge: a thick skin and immunity for
whatever they say.
The necessity for immunity
A nudge by definition pushes other employees…
and must therefore be protected from the comments
and reactions of all employees.
Consider this typical situation:
Nudge: Mary, as you know your monthly sales figures
are a little off. What are you planning to do to get back
on track?
I guarantee you that Mary is not likely to be very happy
when the nudge drops by with this message. However,
that is the nudge’s job: to get Mary back on track ASAP,
to enable both Mary and the company to achieve their
clearly understood goals.
Mary may well be inclined to respond with a “get
out of here. I am fully capable of handling this matter
myself” comment.
But she cannot and must not.
The nudge’s job is to remind Mary of what needs to be
done, when it needs to be done, what Mary is doing to
achieve the objective, and to give Mary all appropriate
help and directions, right up to and including warnings
and admonitions.
The nudge is constantly in motion and may appear
anywhere, at any time.
By definition, a nudge cannot be a stationary object;
the nudge must constantly be
* connecting with employees
* reviewing their progress
* making suggestions
* focusing employees
* recommending what must be done and
when it must be done.
The nudge must be supremely well organized
and must have a clear daily “to do” list.
This means
* knowing who must be contacted today
* calling and emailing such people (including
follow-up e-mails after all meetings).
* re-focusing employees, tweaking, adjusting,
reminding.
The nudge is a creature in constant motion…
* prodding Joe
* complimenting Neal
* chiding Sally
being clear on what each needs to achieve… and working
with each and all to achieve those objectives.
Start today
There isn’t a company on this earth which wouldn’t
be better off having a designated nudge on staff.
That’s why you must start today.
* Review the nudge candidates you have. Who is
best equipped to contact each and every employee
and representative to improve results?
* The nudge must be in constant communication
with employees AND with management.
* The nudge’s conduct and mode of operation
must be reviewed at regular intervals. Remember
your Lord Acton: “power corrupts. Absolute power
corrupts absolutely.” You must ensure that your
nudge doesn’t develop arrogance and “big head”
problems, which can easily occur without periodic
intervention and oversight.
Review the nudge’s results
A nudge who understands and is good at this
job is a godsend to any company. After all, nudges are
clear on what is likely to deliver better results:
* allowing employees to go their own ways
without regular oversight and reminding, or
* having to report progress (or lack of same)
to a designated representative whose task is
to get people to produce more in a designated
period of time?
Obvious, isn’t it?
And so we come back to the original Norwegian word
“nugga”, meaning push. The nudge is your company’s
secret weapon, who by simply showing up and pushing
and prodding employees will achieve better results day after
day.
Cherish nudges, for they are a source of endless
benefits to you and your organization. Far too many
employees are slow, slothful, disorganized, inefficient.
Apply the magic of the nudge to the solution of these
problems and deficiencies. The results will most
assuredly please you!  a designated nudge
